I have a dataset of carbohydrates concentrations measured in Posidonia oceanica (Mediterranean seagrass) leaves with the Dubois methods (ie the phenol sulfuric acid method). Since P. oceanica (just like all marine seagrasses) are terrestrial plant that return to the sea, it is well know that its leaves are full of complex compounds like cellulose which are detected by this method.

Do someone know if it is possible to consider lignin as a carbohydrate, and if it is detected with PSA method ?

Thanks in advance
