Yes, is safe to live near Nuclear Power Plant.. The fact is, cancer rates and risks in general are lower around NPP. That has nothing to do with the plant itself, but instead with the higher standard of living of the people who live and work there. They have good-paying jobs, they take care of themselves, they have the money to pay for medical care.
yes it is, as long the builder follow strict regulation.
In some cases, maybe it is not safe enough even though the regulation already super strict. Let's say Fukushima in Japan. At that time, who knows that huge earthquake and tsunami can be very troublesome to nuclear power plant. But since Fukushima tragedy, nuclear power plant already start following stricter rule so some level of earthquake+tsunami wouldn't be a problem anymore.
People were more at risk from the earthquake and tsunami at Fukushima: compare the deaths! None due to the NPP, up to 20,000 from the natural hazard. Living near an NPP is far safer than living in an earthquake zone, particularly near the sea!
Dear Mr. Khan: to live near a NPP has nothing different as living in a big, large city (like most of capitals all over the world). Since there is something like a collective paranoid (based mainly on ignorance and perverse manipulation) people think erroneously that living near a NPP (or other nuclear installation) is dangerous. Wrong. Even more: the atmosphere (the air composition) near NPPs is better than in central parts of big capitals, since traffic and house density is much lower. Then, I will say, it is clever and keen-sighted to live near a NPP.
