I am reading the book entitled “The Victory of Reason”, by Rodney Stark, and he points out that “The First Industrial Revolution was not a revolution at all but an evolution of invention and innovation that began in England perhaps as early as the eleventh century.” Is that true?

The steam engine, which powered steam locomotives, steamboats, steamships, and factory machines; electric generators and motors; the incandescent lamp (the light bulb); the telegraph and telephone; and the internal-combustion engine and automobile were all significant inventions of the Industrial Revolution.
Whitney's cotton gin accelerated this process, allowing for considerably faster resource gathering. Overall, these developments automated the textile industry and resulted in the creation of factories across the United Kingdom, which was the first country to industrialize.
Technological revolutions are more appropriately represented as waves, each following another since one creates some (but not all) of the conditions for the next. The hallmark of any technological revolution is also that it is a cluster of interrelated systems whose impact extends beyond the industries it propels. Thank you for your replies. One important factor in that Industrial Revolution in England were the water-powered fulling mills for manufacturing good quality cloth. According to Carus-Wilson, through the fulling process "the cloth shrinks by as much as half its prefulled dimensions, making the fabric much tighter and stronger; fulling also cleans the cloth oils and 'felts' it so that the surface becomes far smoother and softer." Although some historians propose that fulling mills appeared in the 11th century, they were very common in the 13th century. Thus, maybe you will agree that we are undergoing Industry 5.0 instead of Industry 4.0.
