I have come across two papers, where the authors have used the same abstract and conclusion is also same. Is it acceptable? if not then what are the consequences?
Suggestion and responses are welcome, will help to avoid academic dishonesty.
I have even seen the same paper published in two different journals. It so happens that after submitting the MS to one journal for publication the paper was not published for a long period of time. The author became frustrated and submitted the same MS to a different journal in which it was published quickly. Then the first one published it.
Intentionally doing so is, however, not acceptable.
Dear Hari Mohan Pandey. This situation is impossible. At least one paper's abstract must have been changed. This is wrong for academically. Which journals published them? Is them seperate journals or same journal?

Now a days softwares are available which can check plagiarism. I hope these will help to bring down incidences of plagiarism to a certain extent in future.
I agree that using the same abstract for two different research papers is not acceptable. Perhaps, we need to put journals into a Turnitin database for this purpose.
I think it must not be possible from an ethical point of view, but unfortunately it is true. I know of a case in which the same article was published in two journals of high impact. Of course, the title was not the same ....
In my case, one of my paper has been completely plagiarized by a Chinese researcher who assumed not have the patience to ask a translator. The translator confirmed that about 90% of his paper was my paper. You may be wondering if I denounced it: no, thought more appropriate to manage my emotions to my work and not to its scientific disloyalty.
