Key pre-distribution in wireless sensor network is very important stage of WSN. I am trying to implement/simulate those scheme to test their efficiency, security/ robustness against attack. My question "Can i use NS2 for this purpose?"
You can use it. However, from the experience of my PhD students, they found it easy to use Omnet++ or Cooja. Most students prefer to use Cooja.

Yes you can use NS-2, and also check NS-3. If you find the resources for other simulations so go for easy one but NS series are most popular and standard simulation tools.
Yes you can use it, but it's more easy with NS3. NS3 is now increasingly popular and mature.
NS 3.0 used by well versed projects like CROWD, though it is a free ware, It has some limitations such as non-GUI & not compatible with WSN.
You might gather a small team to work with NS2 as it is time consuming and requires lot of effort to arrive at results.
