CST EM Studio supports modeling of point-like sources and ideal current path sources for low frequency applications, but it is done with quasi-static approximations hence might not be applicable for your case if the frequency of interest is in the MHz range.

Hi, I misunderstood your question. You are referring to isotropic radiation sources, aren't you? In that case the CST does not have the point source per se. However, it does have plane wave excitation and a far-field source. The latter can be used to emulate the quasi-isotropic source. You can in a separate project model a small antenna (e.g. short dipole or patch) with quasi-isotropic radiation pattern, record it with far-field monitor and export it. Then import it to the actual project you need as a far-field source and perform your simulation. Please read the help carefully as the far-field source I believe can be used not with every solver.

Thanks Dmitry, for sure discrete ports are ideal and I use them very often in CST. However, I would like to simulate an ideal isotropic radiator like a point-like source or an ideal current line. Although discrete ports are ideal, when you them to feed a non-ideal antenna such as dipoles or patches, I need to take into account the antenna behaviour.

Giuseppe, having thought about your problem in general, I would like to add that the CST might be not the best tool for the detection/imaging/localisation applications. I guess that the distance from antenna to the object would quite substantial in terms of the wavelengths. I would take a look at ray-tracing options.
