I am studying the Europium complexation with a carboxylate ligand. Europium has strong absorption in the UV region, my ligand also has the same, almost overlapping. The Europium addition and NaOH addition (deprotonation) spectra look similar (they cause decrease in the absorption intensity on increasing the Eu / NaOH addition. Further, the complexation shows an isosbestic point also. I do have the clear cut indication of the complexation occurrence. Can anyone help me in interpreting the data in terms of coordination (ligand is bidentate), stoichiometry or can utilise the data to determine the stability constants and stochiometry of the complexes (like in job's method). Is any further spectrophotometric experiments needed for better understanding of the complexation process.
