why do you want to electrodeposit? why not using a dispersion of polyaniline and deposit onto your substrate? you can find a lot of dispersion related publications here on my RG page.

What is your substrate? You should be able to easily electropolymerise polyaniline layers directly if your substrate is conductive itself...you can work with Acetonitrile as the solvent/medium

@ Dear Dirk . Thanks for your comments and usfull links. I do getting Poly aniline deposition from using organic acidic medium but they are quite different from polyaniline emeraldine salt, which is the desires from for charge stoare properties which have green in colour.The product which I am end up in all are in black, may be some other forms.

@Ehsan Danesh. My aim is to electro-deposit Poly aniline on to porous carbon paper which is highly hydrophobic. I can make the carbon paper more hydrophilic but this can effect its conductivity which I am not preferring.

@Bernhard Wessling . Thanks for your comments. I prefer electro-deposition due to its fine coating on carbon paper which will improve its charge-storage properties.

OK. I guess you'll have less problem if you use Acetonitrile plus a dopant anion (such as perchlorate as in LiClO4 salt) as your electrolyte. Just notice that you may have different oxidation potential for the aniline in acetonitrile, from what you see for aqueous electrolyte. I use acetonitrile for polypyrrole electropolymerisation and it works perfectly!

I would like to suggest you to check your potential applied during the process. As you said the product you end up is black, I feel that there might be some overoxidation or so... as I did work with chemical oxidation method and for electrodeposition I just tried once for my satisfaction if it works or not.

I have worked in electrodeposition of polyaniline, you try with stainless steel substrates. I t could be better
