I am trying to grow nanowires or nanorods over glass substrate without any template by using hydrothermal method. But everytime i got with bulk particles and not nanowires or rods. Is it possible to grow these tiny nanostructures through hydrothermal? Can anyone suggest me some methodology?
This is possible by adding some capping agent like Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and some similar type of materials. We already prepared such type of materials and we got positive results. Please search such type of papers.

Growth of nanorods and nanowires require seed layer. So try to put seed layer over the substrate before the growth of nanorods
