Baron and Kenny (1986) is widely used and the thought is established to a certain extent. Whereas Preacher and Hayes (2004, 2008) is quite new and lack of coverage.

Dear Amran, there is a very recent paper on the Journal of Operations Management. The link is attached. Even if the paper mentions supply chain management in the title, I think it is very clear and useful for any social science. In particular, it shows the risks and possible misinterpretations related to the adoption of the Baron and Kenny method. Best regards.
