The application of the methods and analytical protocols depends on what you want to get. What is "minerals examination" ?. If you need to determine just the presence of quartz, feldspar and other common minerals, then sample preparation is not necessary. If you want to determine clay minerals, then a specific sample preparation is required (the best answer is upper). The use of SEM also depends on your tasks, they can be completely different.
