I'm currently working on the extraction of piperine from black pepper (piper nigrum L) using Response Surface Methodology. Well, extraction yield, TFC, TPC and Antioxidant activity were assessed.
Normally the answer is no since under the term phenolic we have many classes of secondary metabolites including flavonoids. The total phenolic content should be greater than the total total flavonoids containt.
But, the total flavonoids content can be greater only if the phenol group's is not free (methoxy, glycosilated, acethylated....) in the other phenolic constituents.
You have to do a deep literature review on the plant before.
