Forging technology for any material depends on final shape. If you are trying to do large material displacements, forces needed would be high and could exceed material limit.
First you need to have cold compression tests and convert the data to the cold flow stress data of sample to find out its formability limit.
A finite element simulation of the Al alloy under consideration using the above flow curve tells about the strain distribution in the final shape needed to fill the die. If strain at any point exceeds for formability limit, the forming would be tricky and perhaps annealing between different passes of muli-pass forging might solve your problem.
Kumar and Bombac show you the answer: the cold forging is possible according final shape complexity and forging machine available. If you want you can explore with FEA simulation.
