I thought that you should consider the deterioration of this fiber due to the long life of concrete structure. If it is complied with this requirement you can go ahead for further investigation.

The problem with Banana fibre is that it degrades with time. It can be used in a composite, have a look at this reference: Journal of Reinforced Plastics and Composites 01/2010; 29(15):2387-2396. DOI: 10.1177/0731684409360578
I think that Bamboo is a much better option though, it is light and has good strength.
In the 1970's it was proposed as a flywheel material, but I am not aware of any work since. I did some benchmarking and if the requirement is a low cost flywheel, Bamboo is about 4 times better than the next material (glass fibre). Of course if performance is the only criteria then other material such as carbon fibre is better, but Bamboo wins out on cost.

Banana fibers as well as many other natural vegetable fibers have excellent mechanical properties, and certainly, they can be considered as potential substitutes for traditional fibers used in construction.
The main challenge that limits its use and that researchers are studying is the accelerated degradation and poor service life. However, it is now possible to find many examples where these fibers are currently being used in the contruction industry.
