No, but I ideally am looking for someone familiar with the arthropod fauna of Northern Mexico and the southwestern U.S. I will be working on both sides of the border. 

You should come in contact with Dr. Jason Dunlop, curator of Arthropods in one of the largest collections around the world, at the Natural History Museum in Berlin. He is probably interested or can help you with further contacts, literature or collection material. Adress information is at the paper attached.

Hello Israel, May you explain briefly your project?

I am a carabidologist (Coleoptera: Carabidae) interested to describe carabids distribution along elevational, temporal and spatial gradients by species traits approach. I am an ecologist with taxonomical knowledges even if I never identified species from Mexico, but I could begin to do it. I am particularly interested to ecological patterns in montane-alpine areas.

I specialize in a family of Microlepidoptera (Gelechioidea: Elachistidae). I have revised the fauna of North America in a series of monographs - taxa from S. USA (California, Arizona, Texas, N.M.) richly represented. I have also made a review of the species of South America (though material mostly from very South). Not a single species is so far known from Mexico, but a very high diversity is reasonably expected. I would be very interested in studying such materials, if anything of these a bit cryptic moths would be found. I feel that I should be sufficiently qualified for the task (cf my publicaton list) - though not that keen to participate field work.

You should contact Dr. Oscar Francke. He is professor at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (National Autonomous University of Mexico). He works mainly with scorpions, but has a huge knowledge in spiders. He might also know some other people able to work with you.

My colleague Sandra Brantley ([email protected]) is University of New Mexico, and her and I are interested in spiders of the arid southwest, especially sheet web spiders (Linyphiidae).   I think she would be interested in work like that, especially if it yielded specimens for her museum at UNM.   I'm working on linyphiids from USA, Mexico and Central America and would be happy to help with ID's and alpha taxonomic work.

I would be very interested in working with you on bark and ambrosia beetles (Curculionidae: Scolytinae Platypodinae).  I have been working on this group in Mexico and the U.S. for many years but have not had the opportunity to work in NW Mexico.  In general the fauna of my group is pretty well known for the region but there is very little distributional or ecological information for the region.  Any collecting would yield numerous range extensions and a fair number of new taxa as well.

I maintain a large database on host and distribution information for North and Central American species (http://www.barkbeetles.info).

If you are concerned at all with the harvestmen (Opiliones), I would be interested.

Dr. Shultz beat me to the punch with the Opiliones.  Know that I collected millipedes from sky islands in northeastern Mexico in Nuevo Leon.  Most if not all of the millipedes I collected are thought to be new species.  One of these thus far have been described (Shear and Marek 2009); link to PDF below.  Myself, or either of these authors would likely be interested in receiving millipedes.  Consider terrestrial slugs and snails as well, which show great diversity in this area.  Again, I would be interested in looking at these, and presumably so would Dra. Edna Naranjo-Garcia at the Instituto de Biología - UNAM.
