I am part of a geripsych working group, currently comprised of nurses in the United States, that originated with the most recent NICHE conference, but has spread slightly beyond conference attendees at this point.  The group is in its infancy.

At a conference call of current members today, the group determined it was appropriate and prudent to reach outside NICHE to determine what other groups and individuals may have an interest in improving the status of geriatric psych in a variety of care settings including but not limited to psychiatric settings, acute medical settings, long-term care settings, and the community.

The intent of the group is to improve geriatric psychiatric nursing practices and overall geriatric psychiatric care in the United States through exploration of process and best practices. The group will look at best practice not only in acute medical settings, long-term care, psychiatric settings, and the community.

If this is something you're interested in, please let me know of your interest.

Additionally, if you are interested in other groups working on this, that would be very valuable information as well.
