Can someone help me to find out the K value in this equation. The equation below to find out the scalar degradation parameter. The K value is for the internal variable defining the current degradation. Is it correct if I use K = ft/E.
dm = as − κ0/κ [1 − αc + αc e(β c[κ0− κ] )
I assume K0 and K both are deformations. I most damage models K0 is threhold deformation (usually defined by user as K0 = ft/E) and K is the local deformation of the material depending upon the actual stress state (loadings and boundary conditions) .
Now when I look again on this equation K and K0 are written in opposite order to what i mentioned earlier. i.e. here K0 is the local deformation and K is threshold deformation for damage initiation (ft/E).
So K should be determined by experiment. For ft you can perform split cylinder test and for E you can perform any test which gives you Young's Modulus.
