Many people say the country is heading toward a major turning point in 2025. Others believe this is just another phase in a long cycle of political struggles.

I'm not clear on what Boris means by "No!", but my "yes" means: Yes, I do believe that America is more divided than ever. No vs Yes illustrates my point perfectly :)
- Despite what fear-mongers (all of the media*) would have us think, I do not expect major changes. I expect there will be changes, though.
- I think the divisions are very deep and primarily epistemological (finally, I get to use that word in a conversation!) and moral. Lots of the divisions stem from disagreement on reliability of sources of information and the biases and agendas of the sources - big problem if we can't even agree on the facts or observations. Moral because all laws and policies have a perceived moral basis - such a thing is good vs bad or right vs wrong. There are laws against murder because we believe it is wrong. There are laws against littering because we believe it is wrong - or, at least better not to litter. But now we have deep divisions on what is good and what is bad or harmful. We can't spend our time debating how to get there, how to encourage this good thing, or how to discourage this bad thing because we don't even agree on whether the things are good or bad. And to the epistemological point, whether the thing really happens or not.
- I am less hopeful about the future for the USA now than in the past. Unlike some, I do not think everything the new president does is bad, but there is an erosion of care for the truth and trust and more clear than ever desire for power as a prime motivator. That much of the country tolerates this is deeply concerning to me. And I don't believe those the object are better.
*I'm not a conspiracist regarding "mainstream media" I just mean that their mission is not really to inform, it is to sell advertising by entertaining. Take weather reports as a not-too-emotional example. If the National Weather Service predicts "2 to 6 inches of snow" all the radio reports all day on all the stations will say "up to 6 inches of snow." They want you to think it's as big a deal as possible. They will always sensationalize and catastrophize to some extent.
