On one hand, AI is incredibly powerful—it’s transforming industries like healthcare, finance, and transportation. Generative AI, automation, and data-driven decision-making are real game-changers. The hype is somewhat justified because AI has already delivered tangible benefits.
On the other hand, the hype often exceeds reality. Many companies slap "AI-powered" on their products without real innovation. AI is still far from human-like intelligence, and concerns about job displacement, biases, and hallucinations in generative models show its limitations.

Today’s technology is the stuff of yesterday’s science fiction, with artificial intelligence, robotics, and spatial computing becoming mainstream after decades of, first, speculation and, then, development.
But are they all delivering as hoped? In some ways, yes; in a lot of ways, no.
It’s a typical trend, where expectations about a particular tech exceeds what it can actually do at the moment. Gartner’s Hype Cycle calls this stage the “peak of inflated expectations” — which happens just before disillusionment sets in.

Shafagat Mahmudova Very realistic assessment. I once carried out a survey of 50 companies on utilization and cost of computer and digital systems and found that utilization is not 10% of capacity and actual cost of consumables power and manpower has far exceeded the manual system. But it is also an irreversible trend due to government systems also using digital technology. Internet is great enabler. But that is different than AI
