As we know a scintillator is characterized by photon/MeV generated due to excitation of ionizing radiation. I wish to know which is the instrument/ set-up used for measurement of photon/MeV for a scintillator?
Scintillometer or radiation survey meter is being mostly used for detecting gamma radiation coming out from source (rock/soil/water). NaI crystal (Tl activated) coupled with photomultiplier is being used in the instrument.
is about the measurement of radiation using a scintillator. I have more specific question about measurement of light yield of a scintillator (photons/Mev)
It is done by usual photodetectors which have to be calibrated. Also, one needs to take into account light coupling losses. E.g. Article Advances in Yield Calibration of Scintillators
