in the next few years, Solar activity as a regulator of the terrestrial climate would be in the front lines. if you think about it, Sun's role has been underplayed and undermined. This is the ONLY source of energy for our solar system, and people still claim that it has a "minor" effect on our atmosphere. You get comments like "oh, the irradiance changes are tiny...". True, but at the UV wavelengths, the change is huge. This is the inconvenient truth. And the reason it is inconvenient and simply because no money (yet) has been invested for research on this topic.
