I have noticed a trend in instrument adaption and validation studies to use multiple instruments together so as to show convergent validity for the main instrument in question. My question, though, is about the following case:

The study involves the application of 3 research instruments. Instrument A is already well validated in previous publications and serves as the "gold standard" for convergent validation. Instrument B has been validated in other contexts but has not been used with the present population. The final instrument, Instrument C is the focus of the study and has been adapted by the authors to the given context. An article about the validity of Instrument C will include convergent analysis tying its results to Instrument A and Instrument B.

My question is, could the study team also publish an article about the validity of Instrument B in this new context, using a convergent validity analysis tying in the results of Instrument A and Instrument C? I could see how some might say that is Salami Publishing, and thus unethical, but I think a case could be made that each instrument should have its own article so that future studies can site only the relevant article for the instrument they want to use.
