on the same token, is there are any possible ways to minimize or prevent such destruction through farming practices?
I think you should study and survey the soil elements in those places and determine the amount of destruction? And the nature of elements in the soil?

I donot fond any correlation between te two things i.e swamps and lihtning damage.Do we have any documneted data showing this kind of information.If no, then only suppositions may beaccrued , which might be a co-incidence.
You should think about this issue carefullly, because it is probable that the cause of the damage it is not relate to chemistry of the soils, but to the high flash rate density that is very common in hilly regions. Another way to think about this, it that once the lightning hits the ground, the conducvity of the soil could help to a more extensive propagation of the lightning current.
