I also think that future wars will be fought to take control of water resources. Water will be as important as oil, right now. Therefore, water is the future oil in a sense.
I´m afraid, Kamal is right. But a similar reason will be, to find dry regions on the earth, if the polar caps will melt. Just look at the recent "rainy" debacle.
According to the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations, it is estimated that in the year 2040, the world population will reach 9,038,687,000.
Also, knowing that the distribution of this world population is not even around the globe, some areas are going to be more congested than others and the struggle for water more pronounced. Ergo, wars over water do seem to be the strategic drive for many nations in the coming decades.
American author Mark Twain once remarked that “whisky is for drinking; water is for fighting over”. Reports from American intelligence agencies and research groups indicate that the prospect of a water war is becoming increasingly likely.
In March, a report from the office of the US Director of National Intelligence said the risk of conflict would grow as water demand is set to outstrip sustainable current supplies by 40 per cent by 2030.
I believe that history repeats itself, water was the cause of localized range wars during western American settlement. Policy makers state that increasing world population will need increasing quantities of food, shelter, clothing, and energy....what about water. Without water it is not possible to produce these commodities. Archeology has discovered numerous societies that were thought to be highly advanced developed cities, abandoned because they no longer had a source of food and water.
Climate change can impact supplies of fresh water without a doubt. Consider that polar cap melt water ends up in the oceans, without desalinization, that water is useless. Precipitation and temperature patterns are likely to shift. Will this effect major world cities to the point where they can no longer be habitable? These are extremes but mankind has obviously faced these extremes in the past.
To this day people believe that climate change and global warming is a scam that somehow will make someone rich. The question is not if it is happening but are we willing to take the risk? What if they are right? What is at stake? If we clean up the air, clean up the water, and become more efficient with our resources; could climate change slow to a rate that will allow adaptation? Seems to me it is a win-win situation to become more environmentally conscious....my opinions.
Dear friends, Inter state conflicts are already started. This further may Leeds to EAR/COLD WAR.These issues may cause national/international problems. What are solutions from your side to prevent EAR/COLD WAR.
