Suppose a high pulsed laser has to be made incident on two amplifiers (one with low pump & other with high pump power), which amplifier has to put first in double pass condition to the incident beam? First high power pumped amplifier or low power pumped amplifier? for high amplification
Generally you go through the small one first. However, double passing makes it less important which one you do first. Double passing your two choices are Big Small Small Big or Small Big Big Small. You probably want the first one, but it may not matter much.
The main thing you want to consider is the saturation.
If neither configuration saturates either amplifier, then it doesn't matter what order you put them in.
If one pass through the big amplifier results in a fluence that already saturates the small amplifier then you might want Small Big Big Small to get one good gain from the small amplifier before you saturate it.
However if one pass through the big amplifier doesn't saturate the small amplifier, then you probably want Big Small Small Big so that the second pass through the small amplifier also isn't saturated. (or at least is less saturated) Of course, who is to say that doesn't result in saturating the Big amplifier?
Basically you really need to calculate your saturation and see which way works best.
