In fact, Interviewing through Instant Messaging requires an understanding of the users’ communication etiquette. The number of users is growing and the range of users is expanding, which will continue to broaden the opportunities for using this instrument. However, one should be aware of the risks and implications of carrying out research through IM, especially in regards to the representativeness of the sample, and the depth and the quality of the data acquired.
