I have a question not an answer.

I imagine the shimming auto-optimization operates like autofocus in older cameras.

In that case wouldn't the optimization take considerable time?

. I did find the "Edit Lock/Shim/ATM" option, checked it, and now able to set shimming commands for different samples.

I ended up using topshim z6 1d optsolvent tuneboff tunea for experiments with p3919gp solvent suppression, and found it resulted better peak shapes than the default topshim.

. I did try tuneaxyz but could not see any difference. It may have taken less time although I didn't really watch the time. Speaking of time, I do wonder if there is a way to start acquisition at an exact time, i.e., to set aside enough time for sample loading/locking/atm/shimming etc. and start the acquisition (as if issuing the zg command in topspin) at exactly hh:mm:ss.

I thought tunea by default would do more shims (XZ and YZ) than tuneaxyz?

Does ordmax=8 get you shims on z8? How do I know if I have a SmartProbe to handle this?

If (automatic) optimization of field uniformity is an iterative process it may take time. As for as I can understand it, the optimization must be done every time for a new sample.
