Fellow researchers,

With the growing integration of AI tools (especially large language models) into the typical workflows of research and paper writing, do you believe this will increase the productivity and eventually reshape the standards of what counts as an original scientific contribution?

From my point of view, not using AI tools would already feel like falling behind those who do. AI tools significantly boost prototype implementations, proofreading, and LaTeX plotting, accomplishing a job in a few minutes instead of hours. But where does a simple productivity boost lead to unethical behavior?

However, I haven't seen an elaborate discussion about how this will affect science in the mid-/long term.

What are your thoughts?
