Supposing in the future nations learn to co-operate more and political systems compromise, what will be the result: democracies, dictatorships, oligarchies (the most common form of government surely?) or something new and as yet untried?
What about the possibility of no national governments, with, say, large internet companies wielding power, or terrestrial conglomerates wielding authority? Will, for most, we be faced with dystopias not new paradises?
It is a Utopian Idea. However, I would call it an International Government of Peace & Harmony.
How would that be achieved when nothing like it has been achieved so far?

The question assumes. It imagines the future will be liberal, educated, intelligent and constructive.
Maybe not.
Being old school I would like to go back to Marx's theory. I believe that we may just have a communist society that Marx talked about. Not the hybrid type of China and Russia or what other countries are proportting. In fact those so-called communist regimes were no more than state capitalism.
I actually find it difficult to see communism, as an economic system, in a globalised context, as it seems to me it requires more primitive social and economic environments to survive. The barely reducible flurry of internet economics, where resources and money often exist, or possibly will exist, in the ether, would make communism archaic.
The hypothesis that serves as a departure point is limited. Nations growth closer or not, and that depends on a multiplicity of factors (economical, political, geopolitical and social ones). So, it is a proposal limited by its purely hypotethical character. The alternative posed by marxists is more realistic: Socialism or Barbarie. Certainly the stalinist "solution" has been a barbarian one, completely different of the communist society imagined by Marx, but too close of a savage capitalism with a new dominant social class (the nomenklature). The main problem is the construction of a set of new social forms based in liberty and equality, and in the State disapearence as a relation of sovereignty and dependance which has its roots in the social relation between wages and capital. Advanced societies need new forms of social administration based in the participation of ALL citizens in every aspect of social life. In the economical sphere, social character of material production requires mechanisms of social distribution of socially created wealth, based in justice and equality, and so on. And this process must be promoted in each society and in every country of the world community, as it was proposed by Trotsky and el Che Guevara (World and Permanent Revolution).
Admirable though your ideas are, starting with say a suitable wealth producing system and then extrapulating from that rather than a Marxian justice producing system is surely the better way. The fully-fledged democracy you itemise was achieved by Ancient Athens because they had slaves-the economy was thus produced by people who had little choice for the benefit of a populous elite. No answer there then?
Whenever I think in the best future for the mankind, such future resemble Star Trek, The Next Generation like future. But the path to achieve such future, may be hard as Hans Jonas described in The Imperative of Responsibility: In Search of Ethics for the Technological Age .
