Even if the journal would be real, I think the important question is what the added benefit would be of publishing in that journal compared to just uploading a preprint on Arxiv.org. It is only papers published in journals with a trustable peer-review process that really counts.
SCIREA Journal of Electrical Engineering is published by Science Research Association (SCIREA), this publisher is mentioned in Beall’s list (publishers list so not the individual journal):
https://beallslist.net/
This is a red flag that the publisher (and the journals) might be predatory. Other red flags are:
-No physical contact address.
-Names look like more established ones. For example the mentioned journal should NOT be confused with the Journal of Electrical Engineering https://content.sciendo.com/view/journals/jee/jee-overview.xml The journal SCIREA Journal of Electrical Engineering (like the other SCIREA journals) has no serious indexing.
-Personally, I feel it is unethical to use the (almost) exact lay-out of the publisher MDPI
-According to http://flakyj.blogspot.com/2017/01/scientific-research-association-scirea.html presumably linked to Scientific Research Publishing (SCIRP) and American Association for Science and Technology (AASCIT), two unquestionable predatory publishers.
-Troublesome comments from the Cabell’s people (the company that claims to produce THE blacklist of predatory journals): https://blog.cabells.com/2019/07/31/signs-of-a-predatory-publisher/
Hello there, most good journals are indexed in scopus and web of science. You can check the indexing of that journal and see whether it's indexed in list which I mentioned.
Even if the journal would be real, I think the important question is what the added benefit would be of publishing in that journal compared to just uploading a preprint on Arxiv.org. It is only papers published in journals with a trustable peer-review process that really counts.
If the journal is indeed proving itself to be predatory then I am afraid it will be hard. See also: https://www.researchgate.net/post/Can_I_retract_a_published_paper_and_publish_same_in_another_journal
As long as your submitted and accepted manuscript is not published yet perhaps you will be able to retract it and ask the fee back. If not, then I am afraid this is a hard lesson learned.
PS. Those claiming that the journal “SCIREA Journal of Electrical Engineering” is indexed in Scopus, WoS and HEC it is not. The journal named “Journal of Electrical Engineering” is. Regarding predatory or not see my reply July 6.
The easiest way to check is to Google the various predator journals sites and then check on the lists available to see if your particular journal is listed as fake.
Chandar Kumar As I mentioned earlier, that journal is not listed in either web of science or scopus (two of the most respected database) and only in google scholar (where everyone can publish for free), I don't think it is a good idea to publish your work in it.
in order to evaluate journals (including this one), it is essential to have its ISSN. I could not find any ISSN in this journal. hence, it is not a valid one.
I have been trying to publish my work and thought a paper would be published in The Microscope Journal, ISSN 0026-282X, in the 2nd-Quarter 2020 issue. I obtained that ISSN number from a physical copy that listed it on the inside of the front cover.
It seems to me that people interested in finding the best publisher for their works would do well to have a team of others at Research Gate who have taken on the task of finding work posted to researchgate.net that is worthy of publishing and of also doing the job of pointing appropriate publishers to those scientists having trouble publishing good work. I could certainly use such help.
International Journal of Engineering and Management Sciences, (IJEMS) ISSN 2060-6869 University of Debrecen Publishing platform https://ojs.lib.unideb.hu/
“SCIREA Journal of Electrical Engineering” (http://www.scirea.org/journal/DEE) is published by “Science Research Association (SCIREA)”, this publisher is mentioned in Beall’s list (publishers list so not the individual journal in the stand-alone list):
https://beallslist.net/
Indeed, not even an ISSN number exists for this journal. The journal with ISSN 1582-4594 belongs to another journal (discontinued in Scopus): http://www.jee.ro/ (as already indicated in my reply on July 7). Again showing the deceptive practices of this publisher, just add SCIREA in front of the name and you have a new ‘journal’.
Regarding your latest question about the journal “International Journal of Engineering and Management Sciences” https://ojs.lib.unideb.hu/IJEMS or https://ojs.lib.unideb.hu/ looks legit (although strangely enough two ISSN seem to exist ISSN 2060-6869 (online) and ISSN 2498-700X (online)). The latter one seems to correspond to the name “International Journal of Engineering and Management Sciences (Debrecen)”, perhaps this is to distinguish themselves from another title (see underneath this reply). A genuine university is behind it so that is comforting. It is an open access journal open for papers in English and Hungarian. They changed the name round 2016 so relatively new and no serious indexing (yet). The website is poorly working (once set on English) I was unable to find whether there are any costs. Perhaps it works better once you register (didn’t try that).
So, the journal “International Journal of Engineering and Management Sciences, (IJEMS)” is a better choice than the SCIREA one, but somewhat unclear about the status of this Hungarian journal.
Best regards.
PS. Be aware there is another journal with the exact same name http://www.scienceandnature.org/IJEMS_Vol10(2)2019.php published by “Society for Science and Nature (SFSN)” which is mentioned in the Beall’s list.
PS. In general subscription based journals are free of costs (only coloured figures for the print version etc. might be but you can skip that option). Try for example: https://journalsuggester.springer.com/
Thanks, Chandar Kumar for the question. I received an invitation from SCIREA journal. after quick research about the predatory journals, I found this Science Research Association (SCIREA) journal in the potential predatory list, see https://beallslist.net/. Therefore, this journal is not trusted.
