Sustainable Conservation Units can enable Amazonian communities to sustain their livelihoods without harming the development of biodiversity in this important ecosystem.
Dear José Augusto Nunes Hirt your discussion is very important . A Food Web around the area of amazan is important to maintain biodiversity in terms of
The establishment Sustainable Conservation Units is very important in a fragile environment given the pressure from population increase and and sustaining human activities not only from agriculture like monoculture for commercial crops but other aspects as tree felling for construction purposes in some cases.
First of all, thanks so much for sharing such an interesting discussion here.
In my modest opinion:
1. Ecological Restoration (practices/interventions) could be one of the interesting and helpful "tools" to be adopted/applied in order to insert the so-called "Conservation Units" into a potential Management Plan aimed at maintaining and enhancing the long-term evolutionary potential of tree populations and the entire ecosystem.
2. Then, a great Monitoring Plan would be useful and necessary to distinguish the "units" still able to serve the ecosystem and the ones less efficient (damaged or destroyed).
3. Finally, an Ecosystem Services Assessment could be the strategic step in order to obtain a global vision and evaluation of the ecosystem's health.
Such a delicate balance needs to be monitored and analyzed by a great work-team by focusing on a constant and continuous synergy.

I believe that the establishment of conservation units for the sustainable use of nature in the Amazon in order to protect this environment is a very important work and deserves a special effort to protect the environment and preserve its sources of diversity.
Jose, this is a significant issue. I recommend the website Amazonia (https://www.conservation.org/places/amazonia), to foster this discussion and translates words into action.
