I would like to ask about the laser using in PL system, He-Cd laser, can I replace this laser with solid state or semiconductor laser?

actually our He-Cd LASER in our lab very low power around 300 micro-watt , this kind of laser using for PL have maximum power 20mw but now the power drop , and am trying to adjust the current , voltage , Gas , but i dont know the procedure of that

if any of you can help me to increase the power using this king of parameters

Naser,

Gas lasers degrade over time - electrodes wear out, gases leak, etc.

It depends on which wavelength you are using: He-Cd has a few transitions, and I'm pretty sure that diode lasers will be able to replace all of them - depending on your spectral tolerance requirements.

(I use Roithner Optik out of Vienna for my lasers)
