I would say that water (deionized) will work well as reference. Measure your sample between 250-800 nm.

Thank you Szekely. I already know that the absorbance of ethylbenzene is in the range of 275.5nm. However for reporting sake and confirmation, I need to confirm the absorbance before I start degrading with my photocatalyst. This will help me keep up with the degradation trend,kinetics and for calculation of efficiency of my photocatalyst.
