Its a well-known fact that materials like aluminium, magnesium and their alloys form layers of oxides that need to be removed before their joining. so what chemicals, metals we can use to dissolve this oxide layers except grinding & polishing as it is very time consuming and exhaustive way of removing oxide layers.
If you mean by "joining" soldering or welding, then there are various fluxes whose melts decompose these oxides. These are, principally, salt mixtures of chlorides and fluorides of the alkali metals.
By the way, by grinding and polishing, you can not eliminate the oxide layers on Al and Mg alloys, because they immediately reemerge.
Joining by means of Diffusion Bonding. So I need to have extremely smooth surface for which I use to polish and got the bond. But I want to know is there anything other than polishing.
You can activate mechanical mechanism during diffusion bonding to break oxide layer just like acaustic or ultrasound vibration. Once the layer bonds break, it will be easy to diffuse the metal as reduction in mobility bareer....
