I have used data mining techniques for various applications in images and videos. But E-Governance is a new area for me. Can anybody suggest, in what way I can apply Data Mining Techniques in E-Governance?
Establishing E-governance is a challenge without transparency. This lack of transparency is the result of not wanting to disclose the lack of optimization of resources within government. Having said this, almost all operations within government can benefit from optimization analysis and this is one area that linear programming and data mining can come in handy.
A concrete example is optimal service infrastructure for government services. This can be done by intelligent routing of transactions among government agencies to manage the load. This routing of transactions will require an analysis of historical data to determine the best strategy( by day, hour and type of transaction). By sharing the infrastructure(electronic or otherwise) , the resources can be optimized and at the same time require less spending on the part of the agencies.
UID-Aadhar project, National Population Register and lot many such "bid data"-bases are already there with many of the State Governments as well as Central Government agencies, as using BI tools there are lot of opportunity for "mining", and can develop many decision support systems, which will benefit the masses.
I am currently working on a Data Mining, Cleansing & Migration project for our Government Agency. The main challenge which repeatedly come back to us, is the objective and the definition of works to be done.
Here, i am strongly recommend you first define the objective or problem statement, and have stakeholder buyin before embark on the journey.
