To simplify your experiment's steps have you tried to electrogenerate polypyrrole? Numerous methods for electropolymerisation are known in electrochemistry. Among them : cyclic voltammetry (CV), chronoamperometry (CA), chronopotentiometry (CP) ...etc

These techniques usually needs an electrolyte (LiClO4 in acetonitrile for example) and you should not have to include additional steps to your synthesis.
