I think the files attached by Dr. Arvind are of great importance. I would like to suggest in a nutshell that you may use plankton net of 40 µm mesh aperture. You have to calculate how much water you are passing through and how much you are collecting in the vial.

You should decide what groups of zooplankton are target for your investigtions. different size groups (e.g. Rotifera, copepods, euphausiids, hyperiids etc.) can be caught by different mesh size. You cannot provide good sampling of all groups with one net with one mesh size.

I would to cotice the price of a phytoplankton net with a diameter of 35 cm in diameter and one and a half meters long.and with a network of 30 um.
