As an enrollee in the NSF Innovation Corps program, I am tasked to conduct short interviews about learning styles with consumers and patients who have, or are at risk of, type 2 diabetes. Having a bit of trouble finding individuals to volunteer. Hoping to get help from the American Diabetes Association, but meantime will welcome any advice from the community.
pharmacies, doctors and hospitals should be alternatives too. this is people, so they have lives. so you simply need a point of interaction with that life.

Thanks, good ideas. I've contacted doctors and nurse practitioners but so far have not connected with their patients. Guessing this is because of privacy concerns and also because caregivers lack time to engage. I have to admit, I probably would ignore the request if I was in their shoes.

also, you could pass the privacy issue by giving the pharmacist your card to pass to the patient.
the university in my city does a lot of medical research - it has a strong medical school. it also regularly seek test patients. they simply advertise in local media, like the newspaper.
perhaps there are online options - advertising on a respectable diabetes site
a notice at the pharmacy or hospital could help too
