Immediately you die hereon earth, you continue living somewhere else, but it's your soul that leaves your body. The earthly body only provided a house for your soul hence, it goes back to the soil.
Yes, the body has a soul. That is why the scripture says that a faithful Christian does not die but sleeps. When Jesus comes back, we will be awakened to experience resurrection. Jesus resurrected, hence we his followers will resurrect.
Remember, he told the penitent and broken thief on the cross, "Today you will be with me in paradise." It was his soul that went to paradise with Jesus, his body goes back to the soil here on earth. The same with Jesus. His body was in the tomb up till the third day. When he finished preaching in Hades for 3 days (1 Peter 3:18-22) or two nights, his soul came back into the body still in the tomb and he resurrected. Death has no hold on a Son or daughter of God.
