I have undertaken Physico-chemical, Biological and Ecological Enumeration study on Ash Mounds & compared the same with a natural site. I have found out that increase in plantation have positive impact on the soil health. Most of the soil health indicators like biological indicators, nutrients availability, Soil compaction etc. are more or less same in both natural site and older plantation site in ash mounds. In fact in some cases ash mounds site surpass natural site in soil health. Plantation definitely increases the rate of reclamation and improves the health of ash contaminated soil in due course of time.
A Preliminary study on the Ashmound sites in the Lower Tungabhadra Region of Andhra Pradesh
Abstract : The present paper deals with the preliminary observations made on two ash mound sites, Kambadahal and Tsallakudluru, located during the recent field investigations carried out as part of ICHR project in the months of May-June, 2009, along the banks of river Tungabhadra and it’s many affluents covering the eastern part of Yemmiganur, western part of kurnool taluk and eastern part of Kodumur taluks of Kurnool district. It also gives a brief account of the main character of the Neolithic culture of the area along with the inferences made on the evidence of ash mound sites.

In China, there is no so-called ashmound problem. However, species differences should be considered. Please check the refernce.
