Crisp number cannot be transformed in fuzzy number automatically and "objectively".If in a considered problem a data item is uncertain then you have to ask an expert of the problem how great is uncertainty of the data item. E.g. a weight mesurement device has shown your weight as 69.0 kg. Because of food human weight changes during a day and is not constant. You know how much food you take in a day and you can evaluate change of your weight as e.g. 69+-1kg. You are expert of your own person.
A crisp number expressing measurement of a variable can be transformed in a fuzzy number only when the measurement of the variable value is uncertain. If the crisp number comes from a measurement device its left and right deviation is equal to the measurement error of the device. If the number comes from an expert, then the expert also has to evaluate uncertainty (his possible error) of his evaluation.
1.In fuzzy AHP, there is some formula for membership function of a triangular fuzzy number . Where it can use and hoe to use this formula in fuzzy AHP.
2. In your fuzzy ahp excel sheet where did you use that membership function formula.
3. Can we solve fuzzy AHP without finding membership values
If the data in our hand is intermittent (eg, three different temperatures were measured at three different locations in a city: (4,5,6)). This data is not acceptable as a triangular fuzzy number
As per my study , Many existing methods use a fuzzification and defuzzification process to simplify the calculation. However, loss of information may occur due to the simplification process in the defuzzification. Therefore, maintaining the data in the form of fuzzy numbers is important to avoid loss of information.
