I am Working on bio diesel production using lipase from Fungal source. I have a query that at the end of reaction how we can extract the biodisel because reaction mixture containing, Hexane, methanol,oil, and bio-catalyst and FAME.
My Queries are:
1) How to extract only bio diesel from reaction mixture (Is there any protocol or is there any treatment with chloroform or di ethyl ether to extract it.Or simply i will take the for analysis.
2) Since i am using TR-FAME column for analysis,sample should devoid of water.So how to remove water from biodisel sample.
You want to extract bio diesel from non edible oil without water residue. It is better dry you sample from water natural or artificial drying. nature dry use sun. artificial use oven at 105 0C
How much material do you need to extract?
I see you have hexane in the mixture. Keep in mind that they produce corn and soybean oil commercially with hexane extraction. They evaporate the hexane and recycle it. Methanol and water have very limited solubility in hexane, and the traces that remain could be removed with sodium sulfate or other drying agents. Or you can just evaporate the hexane and then heat the oil as described here:

You may use magnesol. But the simplest way is to heat biodiesel to 105 Celsius degrees until end of boiling bubbles of water.
