Do you want to get 41K source or to cool 41K atomic gas? For cooling the 41K atomic gas, refer to the 133Cs cooling process ([Appl. Phys. B 79(2004) 1013-1019]) and the 87Rb cooling process (Appl. Phys. B 100(2010) 117-123).

Home-made dispensers are not fun, but are possible. Usually people use commercial dispensers as Tristan has suggested. Potassium-40 dispensers are described here:

Other groups I know of using home-made dispensers are Shin Inouye's group in Tokyo and Joseph Thywissen's group in Toronto. I don't know of any papers they have published on the subject, but they may have student reports or theses which describe the process. The difficulties are in keeping the material very clean (and dry!) and not getting it hot enough to react.
