I am Meghnath Dhimal and new in this Forum. I am doing PhD on Climate Change and Malaria. Is there report of regional climate modelling of South Asia at least covering Nepal and India? Looking forward to your suggestions.
I am specifically focusing on the impacts of climate change on distribution of malaria vectors in distinct ecological regions ( along the Himalyas) in Nepal.
This seems a fair and reasonable, but I think it would be better if the study is carried out in Malaria prone areas. The data should have both spatial and temporal dimensions in order to explain the fluxes. In addition there are tools like Ecological Niche Modelling, GARP and GIS which should be used to make broader generalizations about the vector ecology.
Please check publication by Dr Neeraj Tewari, Statistics Department, SSJ Campus, Almora, Kumaun Univeristy, India. He has done some geographical modelling of malaria.
Temperature plays a very important role in the life cycle of a mosquito and other vectors. It can be easily seen that mosquito remains till late winter in many areas due to the same reason. You can check publications of the malaria control centre, BHEL, sector 3, haridwar and of Dr. Jauhari, DAV college, Dehradun
