Good day Dear Researchers. Please I would want to ask a question on cryptography. Am trying to use hybrid cryptography to secure a system, that is 3DES AND AES. Is it possible to merge both algorithms to have a unique algorithm. Or we encrypt the plaintext using the first algorithm (3DES) then the output is encrypted again using the next algorithm (AES). PLEASE, WHICH IS BETTER AND WHY?? AND WHICH IS POSSIBLE AND WHY??

in the case that you want to follow your approach - and I am not sure that it actually yields additional security for your system - I would not mix up 3DES and AES in one algorithm. You should use well tested and analyzed cryptographic components when you try to implement a secure system. And if you mix up the algorithms, you will likely not benefit from the hardware acceleration for both algorithms if your system provides this.

3DES was more or less superseded by AES. You can cascade them and, thus, request a 192 + 256 = 448 bit long key. Nonetheless, you should oust 3DES by a more modern symmetrical cryptosystem.
