How would you measure the control variables "net household income", "professional status" and "education"?

Is there a paper that suggests how to design those control variables in a quantitative study?

eg. Household income 0-20000 $, 20001-50000$, 50001-80000$ etc.

It would be helpful to know which country the study is going to be carried out in, as a start. Also, how are the data going to be collected?

What do you intend to capture with "professional status"? Do you mean "employment status" or something else?
