Common factors those to be encountered during interpreting a report of hemoglobin are diurnal variation, posture, pregnancy etc. But conditions which are related with hemo-concentration should be important, such as during or after an attack of acute diarrhea, exposure to cold, dehydration, severe anorexia such patient on chemotherapy and important one is nephrotic syndrome. In these case there will be false increased of hemoglobin level in the laboratory due to hemoconcentration and it will be difficult to correlate the laboratory finding of hemoglobin level with clinical finding in anemic patients. As there is no standardization of the level of hemo-concentration, physician should give more emphasis on clinical assessment than laboratory findings during measuring hemoglobin.
