Obviously the standard of your work. Ascertain yourself that your MS is up to the standard of the journal where you are thinking to publish and it lies with the its scope.
After posting I noticed that you have already got your Ph D. I believe you have also some experience in this regard. Do not br dejected if your MSS are not accepted for publication even after trying a few times.
High impact journals required both the novelty and significance in the paper. Therefore the ideas of the research must be innovative. Routine reports, even when combined with a detailed analysis or potential applications, are generally considered to be outside the scope of the journal and are unlikely to be accepted. So in my opinion, the most important is the manner you interpret/discuss your research findings.
