We have a water source contains a concentration of nitrate 150 mg/l which is very high level. we would like to use this resource of 5 l/s in the drinking supplies.
What you recommand me as a simple solution to reduce or remove nitrate in this water source.

In relation to reducing nitrates dilution is not always the only solution. With presence of carbon as a source of energy some facultative bacteria in the genera of Pseudomonas and Bacillus can use nitrate as a source of oxygen generating Nitrogen gas as the final product. This process called denitrification can lead to get reduction in the nitrate concentration without the need for diluting the source with low ntrate water. Another approach which can be effective is filtration both of these approaches are not focused on dilution. Economic cost of the different sources and their feasibility would needed to analyzed for each particular situation.

Do you know the dissolved oxygen concentration and oxidation reduction potential of the water carrying the nitrate?
I am working on the in situ reduction of nitrate in groundwater using the denitrification process introduced above by Dr. Hepperly.
Removing nitrate from groundwater can be performed by solar distillation. As given below (in the attached file), the results of the chemical of groundwater of the Adrar region, analysis before/after solar distillation.
As answered by Pr. Ahmed Rahmani distillation can be a very economic solution but only for personnel use (for huge production), RO solution will be better, especially if the solar energy is used.

The maximum limit is 50mg / L. WHO recommendation is 44 mg / L.
The maximum authorized limit of 50 mg of nitrates per liter in drinking water supplies has been specified according to the following recommendations:
1.the threshold for ingestion of nitrates by humans is set at 3.65 mg/kg of body weight (acceptable daily dose), i.e. a threshold of 250 mg/day for an average weight of 70 kg
2.the average amount of nitrates ingested is evaluated in a Western-type diet at 175 mg/day
3. the average daily water consumption is estimated at 1.5 liters, which then makes it possible to specify the following standard:
75 mg of nitrates for 1.5 liters of water, i.e. 50 mg / l.
The progression in groundwater is commonly 0.5 to 1 mg / l / year and can reach 2 mg or more. A similar situation is found in surface waters.
When the nitrate levels of a resource exceed the threshold of 50 mg / l, several remedies can be considered, in order to provide the consumer with a product that complies with regulatory requirements:
1.dilution with less loaded water,
2. deepening of the catchment, drawing from more protected aquifers,
3. abandonment of collection with the search for a new resource or connection to a neighboring network,
4 or the treatment of polluted water by a biological treatment process or by ion exchange resins.
These depollution techniques are very effective in the short
term, but costly in terms of investment and operation. Choosing a preventive solution is less expensive, but less effective in a short time frame. It seems that these two solutions complement each other and are valued today in the field.
Collective awareness of the problem, everyone's willingness to tackle it, along with technical know-how, are one of the surest guarantees of effective action and sustainable development.
