I am running a eigen mode simulation in HFSS. If i want to view mode 1 electric field, i set it as excitation and simulate to view the mode field. However, when i change excitation, for example to mode 2, the plots involving the fields for mode 1 are lost and those for mode 2 as well are not seen. To view that, i have to simulate again. How can i view both the modes in one simulation only?
If you are solving for Mode 1 and Mode 2 you should be able to plot the fields by changing the excitation like you said, without having to resimulate. However I don't think you can plot both modes simultaneously, only one mode at a time.
Thank you for your answer. However, the field plots, etc are lost when the excitation is changed. This problem can be solved by ticking the save fields and mesh option in parametric setup under optometrics.
you need to change Setting, then you will able to at different EF at different frequencies.
To excite different modes, go to HFSS -> Fields -> Edit sources and you can turn on/off any mode you wish. These excitations are what you see in your field plots.
As for plotting fields on planes, expand Planes in the model tree window, select the plane of interest, then right-click in the 3D modeler window and select plot fields.
